We love to show off and feature artists that we believe need more attention. Here’s some music we’ve been listening to and want to share.
BENJAMIN STEVIE / BEN STEVENSON
Ben Stevenson, a musician from the Toronto music scene, released his album CaraCara on September 22nd 2017. The artist started out in the punk scene, but CaraCara has varying sounds of folk, r&b, indie and psychedelia. It features contributions from artists like Daniel Caesar, BADBADNOTGOOD’s Matty Tavares, Destroyer’s Joseph Shabason and more. It’s the perfect mellow, relaxing album, it’s comforting and simply beautiful.
One of London’s most exciting new artists – electronic pop singer and producer Qendresa has been on the rise ever since the release of Shades on, a six-track EP produced together with producer Hugo Mari back in 2017. You can definitely hear influences from 90’s R&B, but also sense that Qendresa gets inspired by loads of different genres and artists. She also hosts an interesting show on NTS radio and is a DJ in London, playing sets with a big variety of music.
Jimothy Lacoste is out there making the waviest bedroom pop. He’s a musician from Camden, North London who went viral after publishing his low-budget, smooth-sounding music videos. He represents everything that is pure and good about being young – rebelling, having fun, loving and just being yourself. At first, you may think his music is a joke, but Jimothy doesn’t like people thinking so. Once you hear his story and the meaning behind them, you start to hear a deeper meaning.
